The Laguna Playhouse is kicking off the New Year with two theater education classes for adults.
Starting Tuesday, “Intro to Playwriting” will delve into the how-tos of creating, writing, directing and presenting a short play with only seven weeks at one’s disposal. The course ends with a 10-minute showcase that is open to participants, family and friends. Till March 5, classes at The Laguna Playhouse run from 10:30 a.m. till noon. Admission to this class includes a single ticket to the first preview performance of the new musical “Having It All” on March 5.
Titled “Intro to Theatre: The Art and Business of Putting on a Show,” the second class provides a bird’s-eye view of production at The Laguna Playhouse. Featuring “Having It All,” the class affords participants the opportunity to gain insight into a production from start to finish. There will be six 1:30 to 3 p.m. classes every Tuesday from Feb. 19 through March 28. Class attendees will also attend an 8 p.m. performance of “Having It All” on March 28, followed by a StageTalk.
For both, tuition is $250, while seniors, students, Players Club members and Laguna Beach residents receive a 25% discount. This fee includes admittance to the preview show of “Having It All.”
“No experience is necessary,” Playhouse artistic associate and literary manager Lauren Simon wrote in a press release. “Just come with a willingness to have fun and try something new.”
Enrollment is limited. For more information, call the Playhouse box office at (949) 497-2787 or email [email protected].
