Locals get accolades

Costa Mesa High junior second baseman Christy Gregory, a repeat first-team selection, tops seven softball players from the Mustangs and rival Estancia Eagles named All-Golden West League by the circuit’s coaches.

Gregory, a Newport-Mesa Dream Team honoree as a sophomore, is joined on the first team by Costa Mesa senior shortstop Janae Rivera.

Estancia is represented on the first team by senior Allyson Wyman and junior Kiele Brown.

Rivera, Wyman and Brown were second-team all-league performers in 2005.

Estancia, which finished fifth in the seven-team league, is represented on the second team by sophomore Taylor West and freshman Courtney Ulrich.

Junior Danielle Morton is a second-team pick from Costa Mesa, which went 0-12 in league.

Orange High’s Andrea Toledo is the Player of the Year and Santa Ana High’s Veronica Cardenas is the Pitcher of the Year.
