Greg Scott, the Co-Most Valuable Player of the Empire League as a point guard at Kennedy High in La Palma last season, has signed to continue his men’s basketball career at Vanguard University, Lions Coach Fred Litzenberger announced Tuesday.
A three-time all-league performer at Kennedy, the 5-foot-10 Scott averaged 19 points, seven assists, five rebounds and two steals per game, according to a statement issued by Vanguard.
Scott helped Kennedy finish 15-10. The Fighting Irish lost to Ayala, 62-41, in the first round of the CIF Southern Section Division II-AA playoffs.
Scott was a first-team all-league honoree the last two seasons, after earning second-team recognition as a sophomore. He was the team MVP as a junior and senior and was also the team’s Defensive Player of the Year last season.
“Greg is a perfect player for Vanguard basketball,” said Litzenberger, the associate head coach last season who was named head coach in April.
“He is quick and strong and a very smart point guard. Greg plays hard and is a great passer. We believe he will fit into our system and become a great leader who is going to help make players around him become better.”
