Sarris earns honors as freshman by website

Newport Harbor High’s Tori Sarris, who was a part of the girls’ cross country state championship, was honored as a 2007 All-State Frosh team member by DyeStatCal.

She was on the third team and one of 30 freshman honored in the state by the popular website for running. Sarris, the only freshman on the Newport Harbor varsity squad, finished 15th in the Sunset League finals in 18 minutes, 48 seconds.

She took 27th in 18:41 at Mt. San Antonio College, where she helped the Sailors win the CIF Southern Section Division II title.

She was Newport Harbor’s fifth runner in the state meet, finishing 46th in 19:13 when the Sailors won the CIF Division II championship at Woodward Park in Fresno Nov. 24, 2007.
