Ted Lilly pitched two scoreless innings against the Chicago White Sox in his spring debut on Thursday morning at Camelback Ranch, retiring all six batters he faced.
Because the game was a B game played on the practice field, the crowd was small. But Lilly said he was nervous.
“I was definitely excited to pitch in a game again,” Lilly said.
The added adrenaline, Lilly said, made him forget about the lingering effects of the illness that forced him to miss his start the previous day.
Lilly said he plans to take his next turn in the rotation in four days.
Hiroki Kuroda will pitch in his second spring game on Thursday night, when the Dodgers travel to Goodyear to face the Reds.
Here’s their lineup for the game:
Furcal SS
Blake 3B
Uribe 2B
Gibbons DH
Barajas C
Mitchell 1B
Paul RF
Sands LF
Gwynn CF
Pitchers: Kuroda, Hawksworth, De La Rosa, Jansen, MacDougal, Guerra
