Taylor Mays to return to USC

Taylor Mays, USC’s All-American safety, will return for his senior season, the school announced today.
‘It came down to whether I felt I was ready physically and mentally,’ Mays said in a statement released by USC. ‘I feel there are some more things in my game that I can improve upon, things that would help me take the next step. I didn’t want to sell myself short.’
Mays is a three-year starter at free safety. Times reporter Gary Klein will have more on this story a little later at latimes.com/sports.
