After three months of the high school baseball season, the City Section Division I championship game is what most people expected: Chatsworth vs. Reseda Cleveland on Saturday at 2 p.m. at Dodger Stadium.
Cleveland, seeded No. 1 in the playoffs, defeated Granada Hills, 5-0. John Wilson went the first three innings on the mound and David Carver finished up. That means Wilson will be ready to pitch in Saturday’s final. Brady Moore had the big hit, a three-run double.
Chatsworth, seeded No. 2, put together four-run innings in the third and fourth to defeat Woodland Hills El Camino Real, 8-5. Andrew Klausmeier threw a complete game, striking out 10 and walking one. Andy Weissberg had a pair of two-run singles for the Chancellors, who opened an 8-2 lead. Michael Booth hit his 15th home run for El Camino Real and Travis Keppel added his 10th.
Chatsworth will be seeking its ninth City title. Cleveland is after its fifth City title. Chatsworth has beaten Cleveland two out of three times this season. Ace pitcher Mike Renner is ready to go for Chatsworth.
‘It’s going to be fun,’ Klausmeier said. ‘It’s going to be a boxing match. We’re going to give what we got, they’re going to give what they got.’
