The City Section has taken a major step toward forming new leagues that would be implemented next season and last through 2014.
A realignment committee submitted its final proposal on Monday, and a final vote will be taken at the next City Interscholastic Athletic Committee meeting on Dec. 7.
Only four schools have objected to their placement: Van Nuys, Hollywood, Sylmar and Roybal. Van Nuys, in particular, has protested being placed in the West Valley League, citing safety issues involving playing football in the league.
A final decision must be made by December so schools can begin signing contracts for football scheduling.
