Beware of unbeaten Lompoc (10-0). This is a team not only looking good in the Northwest Division but for the long run. The Braves are loaded with outstanding juniors, and they knocked off rival Cabrillo, 42-7, on Thursday night before more than 7,000 fans. Cabrillo (8-2) was ranked No. 3 in the division.
Junior running back Lavon Coleman rushed for 185 yards in 24 carries, raising his season total to 1,369 yards and 18 touchdowns. He had a 66-yard punt return.
The offense had 410 total yards. The defense recorded five sacks.
Yes, it’s good to be a Lompoc Brave these days.
