Boys’ basketball: Mater Dei starts well and has 26-19 lead

Elijah Brown had eight points in the first quarter to help Mater Dei take a 21-9 lead over Long Beach Poly in a CIF Southern California Open Division semifinal game at Mater Dei.

Roschon Prince has started to go inside to pick up the Jackrabbits, who trail, 26-19, with 4:49 left in the second quarter.

Stanley Johnson has scored 10 points for Mater Dei. Etiwanda leads Westchester, 24-10.

In Division I, Loyola leads Crenshaw, 38-20.
