Mary Decker Marries British Athlete Richard Slaney

Track star Mary Decker celebrated New Year’s Day by marrying British discus thrower Richard Slaney in a private church ceremony at Eugene, Ore.
It was the second marriage for Decker, 26, and the first for Slaney, 28. Decker was married for two years to marathon runner Ron Tabb. They were divorced in 1983.
Many athletes were among the 250 people who witnessed the wedding. Decker’s coach, Dick Brown, also was present.
