6 Persian Gulf Nations Plan Unified Passport

MANAMA, Bahrain — Citizens of Saudi Arabia and five other Persian Gulf Arab countries will receive unified passports within two years, the official Saudi Press Agency announced Monday.
The agency quoted Abdullah Bishara, secretary general of the Gulf Cooperation Council, as saying the common passports will be issued to citizens of the council’s six member countries--Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain.
The council was formed in 1981 with the aim of achieving economic and political integration among its members.
