The 1984 year-end financial report of Wespercorp, the troubled Tustin computer parts maker, was qualified by its auditors, Touche Ross & Co. The primary concerns of the auditor were Wespercorp’s liabilities from two pending lawsuits and the profitability of its large contract with the Federal Aviation Administration, the auditing firm said.
Less than two weeks ago, Wespercorp laid off 20 of its employees, shrinking its work force to 160. In early January the company reported an $11.4 million loss for its 1984 fiscal year and a $4-million loan restructuring agreement with its bank. “We’re not suggesting that the company won’t meet its next payroll, or that it’s going out of business in three days,” said Larry Fuller, a partner at Touche Ross, “But it isn’t customary for an auditor to render a qualified opinion,” he said.
