SANTA MARIA — Kip Brown and Woody Jones are enjoying their stay in California, thank you.
Both Moorpark players are transfers from Oral Roberts University who intend to return to Tulsa, Okla., next season. But they have spent most of their time this season dominating the Western State Conference.
Thursday night at Allan Hancock College, Brown and Jones combined for 58 points to lead the Raiders to a 99-88 conference victory over the Bulldogs.
Brown, a 6-6 sophomore center, scored a game-high 30 points and also grabbed 7 rebounds. Jones, a 6-4 redshirt freshman forward, contributed 28 points and 7 rebounds.
Moorpark improved to 14-7 overall and 5-1 in the conference. The Bulldogs, who fell to 8-14 and 2-4, were paced by Fred Burgess and Darrell Simmons. Burgess scored 24, while Simmons added 20.
