Newport Harbor 62, University 42--The Sailors physically dominated the Trojans at University. Newport Harbor (8-1, 17-3) jumped out to a 29-12 halftime lead as University (0-9, 4-14) made only 4 of 22 shots in the first two quarters.
Al Fraser led the Sailors with 20 points and Chuck McGavran added 14. The Trojans were paced by George Paulson and Brad Arnold, with 12 points apiece.
