Reagan Letter Lauds Israel Economy Steps

JERUSALEM — President Reagan sent a letter to Prime Minister Shimon Peres praising his government’s efforts to heal Israel’s faltering economy, an Israeli government statement said Sunday.
“The efforts of your government to strengthen Israel’s economy are to be greatly commended, and you can be assured of my continued interest and sympathetic concern as you carry on with this difficult undertaking,” Reagan said, according to the Israeli statement.
The statement said Peres disclosed the contents of Reagan’s letter, dated Jan. 30, to his Cabinet during Sunday’s weekly meeting.
