Funds for Military Housing, Hospital Earmarked for State

WASHINGTON — President Reagan’s proposed federal budget includes more than $860 million for military construction projects in California, including nearly $110 million for housing for military families.
About $50 million of the housing money would be spent at Ft. Ord, near Monterey, where a 13-year-old boy committed suicide last year because of his family’s inability to find or afford a home near the fort, where his father was stationed.
The budget includes $78.4 million for the third phase of a hospital at Travis Air Force Base, between Sacramento and San Francisco.
