Two Los Angeles Unified School District teachers were named Bravo Award winners Monday night at a dinner held in the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion at the Music Center.
Chosen from 67 nominees and 10 finalists from Los Angeles area schools, the winners were Lynn Hickey of Sepulveda Junior High, an arts specialist, and Ida Rodich, a sixth-grade teacher at Carthay Center Elementary School.
Bronze sculptures were presented to the winners by Nancy Olson Livingston and Garry Marshall.
The Music Center Education Division established the Bravo Awards in 1983 to encourage the teaching of the arts not only by arts specialists but also by general education teachers.
For the first time, the awards were funded this year by the Jeffery Melamed Memorial Fund.
