SAN DIEGO — Jurors today began deliberating conspiracy and perjury charges against Mayor Roger Hedgecock, accused of participating in a scheme to pump nearly $360,000 in illegal donations to his campaign, then lying about the money on financial disclosure forms.
The deliberations began at 9:10 a.m. after a last round of instructions from Superior Court Judge William Todd. Hedgecock, 38, was charged with one count of conspiracy and 12 counts of perjury. If convicted on any of the counts, he would be removed from office under the city charter. He also faces a possible prison term.
