Alemany High clinched a spot in the Southern Section 5-A playoffs by routing host Loyola High. The Indians led by seven points after three quarters before outscoring the Cubs, 20-6, in the final eight minutes.
David Djolakian and Fernando Lopez each had 16 points for Alemany (6-4 in the Del Rey League and 17-6 overall), while Clyde Fontenette had 15 and Rick Giese 13. Mike Boken led Loyola with 11 points.
