A new two-year contract for city employees was approved by the City Council on Monday.
About 100 city employees will receive a 5% pay increase retroactive to Dec. 31 and another 5% increase Dec. 31 this year, said Dave Barrett, assistant city manager.
Those affected are members of the Cypress Employees’ Assn., the Cypress Maintenance Employees’ Assn. and the Cypress Public Works Maintenance Supervisors’ Assn.
The city’s contribution to health insurance also increased to $190 the first year and $244 the second year.
Association members voted on the new contract during the last two weeks, Barrett said.
A major change in the contract with the maintenance association contract allows employees to participate in an experimental four-day, 40-hour work week this summer.
The council postponed its scheduled vote on a separate proposed agreement with the Cypress Public Safety Employees’ Assn., whose members work in the Police Department.
