MIDDLESEX, N.J. — A fire at a paint factory raged out of control today and spread to adjacent buildings after an explosion shook this borough “like the end of the world.” At least two people were injured, officials said.
The fire erupted after the explosion around 10:30 a.m. at Chemray Coatings Corp., a paint manufacturing plant in an industrial and residential district. Most of the plant’s 20 workers were outside getting coffee when the blast hit, Middlesex County Prosecutor Alan Rockoff said.
