BELFAST, Northern Ireland — Gerry Adams, head of the Irish Republican Army’s political wing Sinn Fein, said Saturday that he has been barred from visiting the United States next week.
Adams planned to speak at an anti-British rally in Washington on Wednesday at the same time as British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher is addressing a joint session of Congress.
Adams, a member of the British Parliament who refuses to take his seat, was invited by 10 congressmen of the ad hoc Committee on Irish Affairs.
