Ground has been broken for a $10-million, mixed-use project on Main Street, Santa Monica, developed by Grand American Inc., Santa Monica, with the cooperation of city officials of both Santa Monica and Los Angeles.
The project, bounded by Main, Marine and Navy streets and Neilson Way, straddles the Los Angeles-Santa Monica city boundary and agreement for the development had to be reached with both jurisdictions. The official address is 3100 Main St.
Scheduled for completion in May, 1986, the 38,000-square-foot project will consist of two four-story buildings containing retail and office space and a restaurant and a two-story building containing retail space and apartments. The designers are architects Gary Olen of Grand American and Ron Goldman of Malibu.
