PUYALLUP, Wash — Two armed men invaded a nursing home looking for drugs early today, ordered all staff nurses to leave and fired shots at police before eluding officers by sneaking away.
The 138 patients at the Puyallup Manor Nursing Home were left without care during the 4 1/2-hour standoff. One patient died, but officials said the death was from natural causes. The would-be bandits left a drug case behind, police said.
