Gonzalez’s Home Runs Lead Santa Ana Win

Ruben Gonzalez hit two solo home runs to lead Santa Ana College to a 9-6 nonconference victory over College of the Canyons at home Tuesday.
The freshman, who was 5 for 5, also had two doubles and a single. His home runs were in the second and sixth innings.
Pitcher Gary Pifer (1-0) earned the victory for the Dons (2-0).
In other junior college baseball action:
Orange Coast College 14, Mt. San Jacinto 4--Gene Roumimper’s had two home runs, driving in three runs, to lead the Pirates over Mt. San Jacinto in an opener for both teams. He also had a double, walked four times and scored five runs. Darrin Garner was 3 for 6 for the Pirates, with a solo home run and two RBIs. Dave Rolland had a two-run home run in the eighth for the Pirates. Mark Stomp was the winning pitcher. Mark Barber took the loss.
