Poway to Open Playoffs

SAN DIEGO — Tonight the top-rated Poway High School boys basketball team (21-1) begins defense of its San Diego Section 3-A title when it plays host to Bonita Vista (14-8).
In other 3-A games, No. 5 El Capitan (17-5) is at No. 4 Sweetwater (23-3) and No. 6 Morse (13-6) is at No. 3 Monte Vista.
All games are scheduled for 7:30 tonight.
In 2-A play, Crawford (11-10) is at No. 10 Mission Bay (17-5) and the top-rated 2-A team in the county, No. 7 Chula Vista (18-6) plays host to Kearny (18-6).
In girls 3-A games, Bonita Vista (17-5) plays host to Mount Carmel (16-7), and Sweetwater (16-6) is at Santana (22-0), the defending San Diego 3-A champion. In 2-A, Lincoln (9-5) plays host to San Marcos (20-6), and Crawford (16-5) is at Hilltop (18-4).
