Robbery Suspect, 19, Found Dead in Cell

A19-year-old robbery suspect apparently killed himself in his San Fernando Jail cell, police said Wednesday.
Freddie Tobias of San Fernando was found dead during a routine cell check at 9:25 p.m. Tuesday, Sgt. Rico Castro said.
The body was hanging by the neck on a strand of cloth ripped from a blanket and tied onto the upper crossbar of the cell, Castro said.
Tobias was arrested Monday afternoon after being identified by the victim of a street robbery as one of three assailants.
Castro said Tobias was alone in his cell. His cell was not in view of any other prisoners in the jail, Castro said.
