Reagan Adviser Resigns After Not Getting Top Job

WASHINGTON — William A. Niskanen Jr. Friday announced his resignation from the President’s Council of Economic Advisers, effective March 31.
Niskanen had said that he would resign if not named chairman of the council. President Reagan named Treasury Undersecretary Beryl W. Sprinkel to the post last week.
