Prep Soccer Playoffs : Campos, Ursini Help Estancia Beat Monrovia

Wilford Campos and David Ursini each scored two goals to lead the Estancia High School boys soccer team to a 4-2 come-from-behind victory over Monrovia Friday in a Southern Section 2-A playoff at Monrovia.
Monrovia’s Brian Peterson scored two goals within a minute midway through the first half to give the Wildcats a 2-1 lead. Campos had opened the scoring.
Keith Hodge shut down Peterson in the second half. Campos gave the Eagles a tie 16 minutes into the second half. Ursini added Estancia’s last two goals at the 22- and 26-minute marks.
Jorge Cruz, the Sea View League Most Valuable Player, assisted on all the Eagle goals.
It is the first time in the school’s history that Estancia (18-2-4) has advanced past the quarterfinals. Monrovia finished its season 17-3-2.
Estancia plays the Anaheim in a semifinal Tuesday.
In other boys 2-A quarterfinals:
Anaheim 1, Corona del Mar 0--Curiel Garcia scored his fourth game-winning goal of the postseason to lead the host Colonists.
Garcia’s goal, his 23rd of the season, came on a penalty kick 10 minutes into the first half. The senior center-fullback had scored the decisive goals in Anaheim’s three previous playoff wins.
In boys 3-A quarterfinals:
Lakewood 2, Dana Hills 0--Pat Chavarrie scored both goals as the host Lancers gave the Dolphins (20-1-3) their first loss of the season. Dolphin star David Devine suffered a knee injury 20 minutes into the first half.
In boys 4-A quarterfinals:
Foothill 3, San Gorgonio 0--Keith Golden scored two goals and Kevin Kaufman to lead the Knights to victory at Foothill. The Knights have recorded two straight shutouts in the playoffs. The Knights (16-2-4) play the Palos Verdes-Oxnard winner in a semifinal Tuesday.
In girls 3-A quarterfinals:
Royal 2, Esperanza 1--The Highlanders scored on a penalty kick 15 minutes into the second half to beat the Aztecs at Royal.
The Gina Pachiano scored in the first half for Esperanza (17-6-1). Royal (15-6-4) will face Simi Valley in the semifinals.
La Quinta 4, Pacifica 1--Kristin Harkins scored twice to lead the top-seeded Aztecs (22-2-1) past the Mariners (13-6-2) at La Quinta. Christy Ferguson and Michelle von Flovow each scored for La Quinta. Gina Schneider scored Pacifica’s goal.
