Runoff in major California rivers is well below normal this year, but there is no threat of a water shortage, the state Department of Water Resources reported. Don Neudeck, chief of the department’s flood operations branch, said that despite reduced rainfall in Northern California, storage in major reservoirs there is only slightly below normal.
