University Ends CdM Reign in Tennis

The University High School tennis team, which had finished second to Corona del Mar in the Sea View League for the past eight years, beat the Sea Kings for not only the second time this season but for the second time ever, 17-11, Tuesday afternoon on the Corona del Mar courts.
The win clinched the league championship for the Trojans (12-0 in league and 18-1 overall), ending the Sea Kings’ 10-year reign as No. 1. University beat Corona del Mar earlier in the season, 16-12.
“It’s the best we have played in singles all year, considering the pressure,” Trojan Coach Gary Sisel said.
