Copy of Magna Charta Goes on Display in U.S.

WASHINGTON — A 13th-Century copy of the Magna Charta, first signed by England’s King John in 1215, went on display Wednesday at the National Archives.

There, in a special case in the Rotunda, the Great Charter took its place near its successors in American history: the Declaration of Independence and the U.S. Constitution with its Bill of Rights. It will remain at the Archives for a year, then be taken on a tour of U.S. cities.
