Home Box Office is expanding pay-TV operations.

The company said it plans to sell its HBO and Cinemax channels to owners of individual Earth stations, also known as satellite dishes, in a move designed to sign up subscribers not served by cable systems. The new service will allow subscribers in rural areas to receive the pay-TV channels, the company said.
