Showboats Beat Stallions for the First Time, 38-24

MEMPHIS — Mike Kelley passed for two touchdowns, and Harry Sydney ran for two more Friday night to lead the Memphis Showboats to a 38-24 victory over the Birmingham Stallions before 29,025 spectators.
It was the first victory for Memphis (6-5) over Birmingham (7-4) in United States Football League play.
Kelley completed 21 of 28 passes for 211 yards. Birmingham quarterback Cliff Stoudt, who completed 11 of 12 for 126 yards in the second half, finished with 240 yards on 24-of-33 passing.
Birmingham’s Joe Cribbs was the game’s leading rusher with 69 yards on 12 carries.
