Fischl: “He was making fun of my painting.”
Me: Give me a shot at it. I’ll bet I could do a better job.
Salle: “I fantasized a lot about what real people did in real places.”
Me: It paid off. You’re so “real” it’s scary.
Schnabel: “I don’t like any of their work.”
Me: Neither do I.
Longo: “Why do artists have to die and then people make the money?”
Me: Probably because artists who are alive and making money say such stupid things that you wish they had died before they got a chance to say them.
