W. German Group ‘Bottoms Out’ in Protest of Reagan

HAMBACH, West Germany — Twenty young members of a West German peace group eluded watchful police today and bared their backsides at President Reagan’s passing motorcade, one of the protesters said.
Joachim Dalkner, a student demonstrator from Mannheim, said the group turned their backs and exposed their bottoms as Reagan and his wife rode by on their way to Hambach Castle, near Neustadt.
“Nancy waved at us until she realized what it was. She looked shocked and turned away,” Dalkner said.
He said the group decided to “moon” the Reagans when they realized they would be unable to demonstrate with signs along the motorcade route to protest Reagan policies in Central America. “It was all we could do,” Dalkner said.
