Poland Detained 4 U.S. Students

WARSAW — Poland said today that it briefly detained four American students last week on charges of participating in an illegal pro-Solidarity demonstration and throwing stones at police.
The four were in addition to two senior U.S. diplomats who were expelled by Poland last week, accused of chanting anti-state slogans and participating in a May Day demonstration in the southern city of Nowa Huta.
