Water Policy in California
A phrase was inadvertently omitted from my article, “Water Project Expansion Isn’t Necessary or Smart,” which changed its meaning. The eight ways of getting more water from the Colorado River identified in the Metropolitan Water District’s study are not all free except for the bureaucratic cost of working out agreements between government agencies, as the article stated. There is a range of costs on up to $180 an acre-foot with an average of around $55 an acre-foot--many times cheaper than any new ditches or dams now under construction.
