College Baseball : Fullerton Clinches PCAA South Division

Cal State Fullerton clinched the Pacific Coast Athletic Assn. South Division championship Friday afternoon by beating Cal State Long Beach in 12 innings, 10-5, at Long Beach.
The Titans (19-9 in conference and 34-30 overall) scored five times in the 12th inning to win. Alan Stankiewicz drove in the first two runs with a double, Rich Slominski had an RBI double and Jeff Farber capped the rally with a two-run double.
Long Beach trailed, 5-4, going into the bottom of the ninth when it scored on a single by Jim Spooner to send the game into extra innings.
Mike Belanger was the winning pitcher and Steve Lankard (4-9), who worked 11 innings, took the loss.
The teams play a doubleheader today at Long Beach starting at noon.

UC Riverside 12, Chapman 5--The Highlanders pounded Panther pitching for 20 hits and won easily at Riverside in the season finale for both. UC Riverside finished conference play with a record of 11-18 and was 27-25 overall. Last-place Chapman finished 9-21 and 21-30.
