President Reagan got high marks for his performance in office in a poll of prominent Americans, but nearly 90% of them said that Reagan should alter his economic policies, and many took exception to his foreign policies as well. More than 48% of the 1,177 respondents gave the President a performance rating of “excellent” or “very good,” according to the 12th annual poll conducted by U.S. News & World Report. Reagan got a 38.8% approval rating in the 1984 poll.
