Chlorine Leak Sends 27 to Alabama Hospital

ASHLAND, Ala. — Chlorine gas leaked from a rusty cylinder at a poultry processing plant Monday, sending 27 persons to a hospital and forcing 300 more workers to flee.
“People were just sick--nausea, coughing and burning eyes,” Clay County Hospital spokesman Mickey Williams said. “They were all given respiratory treatment and their eyes were flushed.”
