Councilman Armando Mora Dies

Armando Mora, a city councilman in Santa Fe Springs for nine years, died Tuesday at City of Hope Medical Center in Duarte after a long illness.
The 58-year-old councilman had been mayor three times and had also served on the city’s planning commission. He was a member and past chairman of the Santa Fe Springs Sister City Committee and served on the board of directors of the U.S.-Mexico Sister Cities Assn. He was also secretary and member of the board of directors of the Southeast Area Social Services Funding Authority.
Mora, a resident of Santa Fe Springs for 25 years, had worked as a personnel representative for Sears and Roebuck Co. He is survived by his wife, Alicia, five children and four grandchildren.
A rosary will be said today at 8:30 p.m. and funeral services will be conducted at 9:30 a.m. Friday at St. Pius X Church in Santa Fe Springs. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be sent to the City of Hope.
