Bulls’ Jordan Top Rookie in NBA

NEW YORK — Michael Jordan of the Chicago Bulls was named today the National Basketball Assn. Rookie of the Year, out-polling Houston Rockets center Akeem Olajuwon 57 1/2 to 20 1/2 votes from members of the media
Jordan, who finished third in the NBA in scoring and fourth in steals, led Chicago into the playoffs for the first time since 1981. He also was credited with having a major impact on the Bulls’ attendance, which jumped 87% from last season.
