TEL AVIV — Public opinion in Israel is split evenly over whether to trade land in the West Bank for peace with Jordan, a survey published Wednesday said.
The independent newspaper Maariv said that 48% of those polled were ready to give up all or part of the West Bank, captured from Jordan in 1967, in exchange for a peace agreement with Jordan. Opposed were 49.4%. Of the 1,254 Israelis interviewed, 1.9% said they had no reaction.
