The doubles teams of Troy Turnbull-Terry Davis and Paul Wakesa-John Hancock made the difference for Chapman College, which won its first NCAA Division II men’s tennis title by edging Hampton University, 5-4, in the team finals at Cal State Northridge Wednesday.
After singles play left the two schools in a 3-3 deadlock, Turnbull-Davis downed Hampton’s Yaya Doumbia-Greg Williams, 6-4, 6-3, and Wakesa-Hancock outlasted Alexis Pepen-Pedro Alipio, 6-4, 2-6, 6-1, to lift Chapman to victory.
