The City Council has voted to remove 15 rotting carob trees from Westwood Boulevard and Pickford Way. Another 11 diseased trees will be removed if nearby homeowners approve. City staff members earlier this year recommended removal of all 147 of the carob trees on the two streets but the City Council said that it wanted to remove only the most diseased trees.
Capania trees, similar in appearance to carob trees, will replace the trees that are cut down.
