Wickes plans to buy a home-improvement chain.

The acquisition of four Homeowners Do-It-Yourself Centers would be Wickes Cos.’ first purchase since it emerged from Chapter 11 proceedings in January. The stores, in West Los Angeles, Torrance, Gardena and Montebello, will become a part of Wickes’ 59-store Builders Emporium chain. The deal, the price of which was not disclosed, is expected to close in June, Wickes said.
