Van Nuys Judge Given Superior Court Post

Van Nuys Municipal Court Judge Howard Schwab, a former deputy attorney general, was elevated Friday to the Los Angeles County Superior Court by Gov. George Deukmejian.
Schwab, 42, of Chatsworth, a judge since 1984, replaces retiring Superior Court Judge Thomas Murphy. As a deputy attorney general from 1969 to 1984, Schwab represented the state in a series of prominent criminal appeals, including those of Charles Manson and William and Emily Harris.
