COMMENCEMENT 1985 : California State University, Northridge
- Share via
The largest commencement ceremonies in the 26-year history of the campus were held Friday morning, a change from the traditional afternoon rites. The Faculty Senate, Student Senate and several academic committees had argued that moving the ceremonies to morning might thwart heavy drinking, which administrators said was the cause of rowdy behavior during previous graduations.
Degrees: 5,895 diplomas awarded, including 909 graduate degrees.
Speaker: University President James W. Cleary gave the commencement address.
